The performance of the PRO is operator independent. You can expect to see the same information on the same patient – even when the previous readings have been undertaken by a different professional in a different location (presuming no clinical changes have occurred). The PRO does require a consistent operating environment. To enable consistent reliable readings on the same site it is important that the tooth is isolated using cotton wool balls and then dried for 5 seconds with a 3 in 1 syringe. While 5 seconds seems like a long time it ensure that the tooth is appropriately dried to enable consistent readings. Not observing this step may lead to non repeatable data.
